Week 4 Recap

Bookmark and Share

Two of the NFL's undefeated teams take a fall in week 4. That leaves five but one more could fall tonight with the Vikings (3-0) hosting the Packers in the most anticipated Monday night game of the young season. Here's a quick recap of the games from yesterday.

1.Detroit  24 (1-3), Chicago 48 (3-1)
Bears defense bottles up the Lions in second half after giving up 21 first half points.
Game ball: Bears RB Matt Forte: 12 carries, 121 yards, 1 TD. Finding '08 form?

2. Cincinnati 23 (3-1), Cleveland 20 (0-4) - OT
Bengals prevail in the Battle of Ohio despite special teams mishaps (PAT & FG blocked).
Game ball: Browns RB Jerome Harrison 29 car., 121 yds), WR Mohamed Massaquoi (8 rec., 148 yds), & DL Shaun Rogers (blocked FG & PAT). I know the Browns lost this game, but these guys are why it went OT, especially Rogers and his big mitts.

3. Oakland 6 (1-3), Houston 29 (2-2)
Yet another forgettable performance from Raiders QB Russell.
Game ball: Texans RB Steve Slaton: 21 car., 65 yds, 2 rec., 24 yds, 2 total TD. Getting on track?

4. Seattle 17 (1-3), Indianapolis 34 (4-0)
Can Peyton Manning be stopped?
Game ball: Manning: 31-41, 353 yds, 2 TD, INT. Can you say MVP?

5. Tennessee 17 (0-4), Jacksonville 37 (2-2)
Jags rip the Titans D. Will we see Titans QB Vince Young soon?
Game ball: Jags QB David Garrard: 27-37, 323 yds., 3 TD. Solid game after having radio show "cancelled".

6. Giants 27 (4-0), Kansas City 16 (0-4)
Eli finds a #1 receiver and Chiefs continue to struggle on offense.
Game ball: Giants WR Steve Smith: 11 rec., 134 yds., 2 TD. Eli's new #1?

7. Baltimore 21 (3-1), New England 27 (3-1)
Most of talk centers on Ravens penalties...but dropped pass seals Ravens fate
Game ball: Pats QB Tom Brady: 21-32, 258 yds., 1 pass TD, 1 rush TD

8. Tampa Bay 13 (0-4), Washington 16 (2-2)
Redskins score all their points in third quarter and produce late turnover for win.
Game ball: Redskins RB Clinton Portis: 25 car., 98 yds. Produced despite playing with bone spurs in both ankles.

9. Buffalo 10 (1-3), Miami 38 (1-3)
Dolphins emerge from winless as they run all over Bills.
Game ball: Dolphins RBs Ronnie Brown & Ricky Williams (combined): 36 car., 200 yds., 3 TD

10. Jets 10 (3-1), New Orleans 24 (4-0)
Saints win with defense as Brees goes consecutive weeks without a TD pass.
Game ball: Saints D: 2 TD (1 by INT, 1 by fumble).

11. Dallas 10 (2-2), Denver 17 (4-0)
I'm starting to believe in Broncos as Orange Crush being reborn?
Game ball: Broncos QB Kyle Orton: 20-29, 243 yds., TD. He just keeps managing thegame.

12. St. Louis 0 (0-4), San Francisco 35 (3-1)
Anything about the Rams? Anything?
Game ball: Niners D: (5 sacks, INT for TD)

13. San Diego 28 (2-2), Pittsburgh 38 (2-2)
Steelers score early then hold off a fierce Chargers rally.
Game ball: Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall: 29 car., 165 yds., 2 TD. This after being relegated to special teams play last week for not knowing playbook.

I'm still a little taken aback that tonight's game is receiving so much attention. I know it's Favre and the Vikes against the Packers, but it's in Minnesota at the Metrodome! When the Vikes go to the frozen tundra, that's the game I want to see.
