The Weekend High 5

This weekend supplied us with a whole lot of stories. Here's a look at five of the best from Friday night to Sunday night.

1. Lakers manage only 23 second half point against Nuggets

Los Angeles Lakers vs Denver Nuggets

No one could have guessed this. We're used to 23 points being a low scoring quarter for the Lakers. But a half? And Kobe doesn't score a single second half point? But it wasn't revelaed by the Lakers until after Sunday night's loss to the Houston Rockets that Bryant has a groin strain. No ups when that groin is bad.

2. Coulmbus Blue Jackets beat Anahiem Ducks in shootout

Doesn't seem like a big deal, does it? Watch.

Blue Jackets winger Rick Nash almost "blew a tire" and still managed to score the shootout goal that gives Columbus the win. Speaking of Columbus...

3. Ohio State gains first BCS Bowl Berth.

Ohio State vs. Iowa

Buckeye fans. It's not to the National Championship game, although there will be a few who say they should go. It always happens. The Sweater Vest, played by OSU head coach as Jim Tressel, pretty much put the game on the foot of an ex-soccer player turned kicker who walked on. Doesn't matter. The Buckeyes beat Iowa in overtime, 27-24, and are heading to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. A long wait to see who your opponent is. The Pac 10 is so jumbled right now.

4. Michelle Wie wins her first tournament.

Lorena Ochoa Invitational Presented by Banamex and Corona - Final Round

This is the best thing to happen to the LPGA this year. Wie breaks through for a win, but it's also significant on which tournament...the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. New LPGA commissioner Michael Whan might have been seen jumping up and down for two reasons. The obvious one is Wie's win. The second is that an American wins for the first time since May when Cristie Kerr won the Michelob ULTRA Open.

5. Indianapolis erases 17 point deficit to beat New England, 35-34

It wasn't so much as Manning leading the Colts on the comeback. This game will be forever known as the game where people will actually second guess Pats head guy Bill Belichick. With a little over 2:00 minutes remaining, the Pats gor for it on 4th and 2. Not a big deal? It is when you're on your own 28! Here's his take...

Amazing what one play call can do to your label of being a genius. Some immediately dispell it. Me? He's still the best in the NFL.
